DoD ManTech at the 2022 Defense Manufacturing Conference
By OSD Manufacturing Technology Program
Tampa, FL –
Highlights of the DMC this year for OSD included keynote remarks from USD(R&E) Heidi Shyu and Director of S&T Futures Dr. Kevin Geiss. Ms. Shyu invited the assembled community to bring ideas and challenges to DoD partners, stay engaged, and collaborate for success in building an enduring national advantage, while Dr. Geiss delved into detail on how DoD ManTech programs are supporting OUSD(R&E) technology priorities.
DoD ManTech Director Tracy Frost moderated a panel that highlighted challenges and opportunities for manufacturing at the point of need; how biotechnology is poised to remake the ways we support advanced manufacturing; and how digital technology spans the manufacturing enterprise.
(R to L): Brigadier General David C. Trybula, Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM)
Dr. Angela Campo, Program Manager BioMADE, AFRL
Chris DeLuca, Director, Specialty Engineering, OUSD(R&E)
Tracy Frost, Director, DoD Manufacturing Technology Program
Education and Workforce Development is at the core of OSD ManTech. At DMC, our EWD panel discussed how Defense Workforce Challenges are Shaping DIB Strategic Investments. The experts from government, academia, industry and the MIIs shared lessons learned and prescriptions on how to drive focus and resources to paving pathways for youth to pursue careers in manufacturing and provide opportunities for today’s workers to be skilled for the advanced manufacturing jobs of tomorrow.
We would like to thank our teams from the Manufacturing Science & Technology Program (MSTP) and Manufacturing - Education and Workforce Development, our nine Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (MII) and all of those that participated in showcasing the innovative technological advances that support our warfighters. Your diligence and commitment to the mission made DMC 2022 a huge success!
