Resolving Warfighter Challenges through Innovation and Connections

Honolulu, HI — Director of the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Manufacturing Technology program (OSD ManTech) Keith DeVries said,” One of the biggest takeaways from the Pacific Operational Science & and Technology Conference (POST) are the connections that were made between those with big ideas for improving defense manufacturing and the people or companies who could help bring those ideas to life.” Hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association, the yearly event brings together stakeholders in defense manufacturing for five days of exhibits, panel discussions, demonstrations and the unique opportunity to directly engage with defense stakeholders across the spectrum of users, maintainers, suppliers, and planners. “We’re here for the warfighter, plain and simple. We identify the latest technology to help meet their requirements so they can complete their missions wherever they are and whatever it may entail," DeVries said.

Defense Manufacturing Conference 2024: Advancing Warfighter Capabilities

The Office of the Secretary of Defense Manufacturing Technology Program (OSD ManTech) recently wrapped up an extraordinary week of engaging discussions and hands-on demonstrations at the Defense Manufacturing Conference (DMC) in Austin, Texas. The Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP), which includes representatives from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defense Logistics Agency, Missile Defense Agency and OSD, co-hosted the event. With the theme, “Accelerating America’s Manufacturing Advantage to Win the Great Power Competition,” DMC 2024 promoted dynamic interactions between government, industry, and academic leaders, all seeking to collaborate on efforts to address some of the greatest challenges being faced by our warfighters. With more than 2,000 participants, DMC 2024 was not just a conference – it was a catalyst for future collaboration among some of America’s largest defense manufacturers, technology startups, the military services and other stakeholders in the defense manufacturing ecosystem. The Department of Defense is committed to ensuring the Nation’s joint forces are equipped with the next generation of cutting-edge capabilities and the workforce to realize a rapid response to new and evolving strategic demands. DOD Establishes Assistant Secretaries of Defense in the Office of the Under Secretary for Research and Engineering

WASHINGTON — On July 12, the Department of Defense announced the establishment of three new Assistant Secretary of Defense positions, along with eight Deputy Assistant Secretaries of Defense, in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. The ASDs will replace the role of Deputy Chief Technology Officer.
