DoD ManTech and its Partners Observe Manufacturing Month

Every year, DoD ManTech and the DoD Manufacturing Innovation Institutes (MIIs) commemorate Manufacturing Month by inspiring and educating the public about American manufacturing - why it’s a critical part of the Nation’s defense strategy and how it strengthens and preserves a strong U.S. economy. Congress created the Department of Defense Manufacturing Technology Program (DoD ManTech) nearly 70 years ago, recognizing the need to invest in maturing manufacturing technologies, and enhancing the skills and capabilities of the American industrial base, including the people who work within it.

Inspiring the Next Generation: DoD ManTech Director Connects with Local Students at Allison Transmission for Manufacturing Day

INDIANAPOLIS — Keith DeVries, director of the Department of Defense’s Manufacturing Technology (DoD ManTech) program, celebrated Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) at Allison Transmission in Indianapolis. MFG Day, observed annually on the first Friday in October and throughout the month, is a nationwide initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of manufacturers and addressing the skilled labor shortage. DeVries collaborated with the counseling staff of Bloomington High School South (BHSS), Allison Transmission, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation to introduce students to the diverse career paths in the manufacturing industry.
