Institutes Play Increasing Role in Driving Economic Impact

Several of the 17 institutes in the Manufacturing USA network are often key players in convening stakeholders for their region’s economic development. Two of the institutes received significant funding from the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Agency (EDA) Build Back Better (BBB) initiative, and three institutes recently received EDA grants associated with the CHIPS and Science Act. Another institute’s host received a grant from the Department of Defense’s (DoD) funding from the CHIPS and Science Act.

New BioMADE Project: Scalable Comprehensive Workforce Readiness Initiatives in Bioindustrial Manufacturing that Lead to Regional Bioeconomic Transformation and Growth

BioMADE is launching a new effort to build a comprehensive community-to-career pathway for bioindustrial manufacturing jobs in Solano County, California. This work will serve as a model that can be scaled and implemented elsewhere around the country.

BioMADE, in partnership with member Delgado Community College, received a National Science Foundation grant to develop pioneering new industry-driven curricula for bioindustrial manufacturing that will build the technical workforce needed to support this growing sector.

BioMADE at White House Summit on the National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative; Announces 9 New Projects, $20.6 Million, to Advance Bioindustrial Manufacturing Innovation and Education

BioMADE announced a suite of nine projects that will collectively help secure America’s future through bioindustrial manufacturing innovation, education, and collaboration. Consistent with the goals of the newly signed Executive Order on Advancing Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Innovation for a Sustainable, Safe, and Secure American Bioeconomy, the projects will lead to the creation new biomanufactured products, develop best practices, assist with vaccine component production, and grow the bioindustrial manufacturing workforce.
