By OSD Manufacturing Technology Office

The Department of Defense (DoD) today announced the appointment of Keith DeVries as the director of Manufacturing Technology (ManTech) under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)).

“Our national defense depends on building technologies that strengthen our readiness and resilience,” said DeVries.

In this role, DeVries will lead efforts to accelerate the adoption of innovative manufacturing technologies, which are vital to maintaining the nation’s security and economic resilience. DeVries’ expertise and leadership will be instrumental as the DoD continues to push the boundaries of manufacturing technology, ensuring that the U.S. military remains at the forefront of technological advancement.

Most recently, DeVries served as the deputy director of DoD ManTech. In this capacity, he represented the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) ManTech program as principal to the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) and oversaw specialized investments in high-priority technology areas such as hypersonics and sustainment technologies as well as close coordination with the Manufacturing Innovation Institutes and Manufacturing Education and Workforce Development programs to increase access to emerging technologies and equipping the next generation workforce in advanced manufacturing technologies.

Prior to serving as deputy, he managed the MSTP element within OSD ManTech. The MSTP portfolio seeks to advance DoD’s modernization priorities and drive down acquisition and sustainment costs for fielded and next-generation technologies.

DeVries previously held various positions within the Power & Energy and Radar Technologies Divisions of Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane including overall systems engineer for microwave devices, project management of business unit workload, in-service engineering agent (ISEA) for submarine main storage batteries, and branch manager. DeVries received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from Ball State University. DeVries is an acquisition professional and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps.
