Industry Associations Convene to Explore Cutting-Edge Manufacturing
ARM Member AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology partnered with the ARM Institute to host their Joint Technology Summit at Mill 19
The 2024 Joint Technology Summit occurred at the ARM Institute’s Pittsburgh facility on April 2-3, 2024, bringing together the technology committees of AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association), and NTMA (National Tooling and Machining Association) to explore the latest in manufacturing innovation and advancements ranging from precision gears for robotics to the integration of AI in digital manufacturing.
The Summit featured the following presentations, as well as others:
- Ira Moskowitz, CEO, and Chuck Brandt, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer of the ARM Institute, provided an overview of the institute’s Robotics Manufacturing Hub and led a roundtable discussion on pathways for small and medium-sized businesses to leverage robotics technologies.
- Scott Yoders, VP of Sales at Liebherr Gear Technology, shared Advancements in Machine Tools, presenting gears designed to withstand the rigors of robotic and specialized applications.
- Jennifer Apicella, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network, was joined by Brian Beyer, the Co-Founder and CEO of Hellbender, Inc. to discuss the transformation of robotics start-up dreams into tangible, for-profit reality.
- Frank Braski, Chief Evangelist at Softura, shared a vision of the potential of AI in Digital Manufacturing, and the possibility to revolutionize production processes, enhance efficiency and adaptability.
- Harsh Murari, CTO of Visionify, demonstrated how Vision AI could redefine workplace safety standards, to ensure precision and protection are paramount.
- Carola Sekreter, Director of Business Development at ASM International, guided attendees through the dynamic landscape of material research collaborations and the value of fostering partnerships in material research.
Concluding with a robust roundtable discussion, the committees departed equipped with strategic insights and a collective determination to advance the nation’s manufacturing capabilities into a future defined by innovation and resilience.
