America Makes Elects New Executive Committee Member

By America Makes

America Makes proudly announces that Ben DiMarco, Additive Manufacturing Technology Leader at The Ohio State University’s (OSU) Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), has been elected to its Executive Committee with a term ending in July 2024.

The Executive Committee, comprised of the brightest minds from industry, academia, government, workforce and economic development organizations, ensures that the appropriate strategy, policy, and advocacy are in place for America Makes to achieve its mission – to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing (AM) and the nation’s global manufacturing competitiveness. Members bring their understanding of the current and future state of the industry and advise the Institute on matters concerning technical scope, membership value, ecosystem and partnership strategies, and workforce education and training.

“We are fortunate to have Ben as the newest member of our Executive Committee. His diverse expertise in AM technology and academia is a perfect fit with our mission,” states John Wilczynski, Executive Director of America Makes. “His leadership and collaboration with the entire committee will undoubtedly help to advance AM technology, expand the ecosystem, and grow the workforce talent pipeline.”

In his role at CDME, DiMarco is a key leader in metal additive operations, executing complex research projects for laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), B-Jet, and direct energy deposition, and provides oversight of more than $2.5M in research awards. He has nine years of experience in the aerospace and automotive industries, including at Honda R&D Americas, where he established the U.S. metal additive manufacturing lab and helped formulate process strategies for LPBF, with a particular focus on nickel superalloys. He is a participating member of several professional standards organizations including AMS Metals Committee, ASTM International, and SAE International. In 2022, he received the America Makes Ambassador Award for his continued commitment to helping the Institute advance its mission.
